holiday wishes meme

Step One
Make an LJ post that contains your list of holiday wishes for things you truly want.

Step Two
Skim through LJ and see who posted their own wish lists. Then -- and this is the most important part -- if you find a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make that person's wish comes true.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone else's holiday special too.

My List
for those of you that dont know ofenjen (you should) but thats who i stole this meme from. i am also using her number one request because you didnt see her list if you dont know her, and i think the linus connection is a stellar charity that i donate to as frequently as i can.
  • i wish, that someone would donate something to the linus connection. ( a blanket, some yarn or a check even a small one)
  • i wish, that everyone i know would watch this video about camp wonder . it a camp that my cousin markie goes to every year. in fact he is in the video and so is my cousin amy who is his mom. it makes me so sad to hear her cry about his condition and how people stare at him cause all i can think of is, they are probably staring at his gorgeous face! Um i mean his handsome and manly face. yeah thats right. (hahaha guys hate it when you call them cute so imagine theyd hate it even worse if you called them gorgeous) but really omg. yall have go to see his eyes and freakishly long eyelashes. all the girls on earth are jealous. hahaha. i wish i had a great pic of him (hes much bigger now than in the video, 18 yeas old i think.) to show you but i dont.
  • I wish, that if you can you would send a donation to camp wonder because without donations they cant run. the camp is fully paid for for the children for a week and they all need tons of medical supplies and bandages and stuff. so the more donations they get the more kids can go! even of its only a few bucks. dont be put off by the first box where is says $750.00 donation for one kid to go to camp. under that is says "donate to Camp Wonder" and you can put any number in there. if 750 people donate $1 another kid gets to go to camp. if 75 people donate $10 one kid gets to go to camp so the number isnt important.
  • i wish, for pretty colored sequins (the kind that come all attached together on a string. usually they are on a spool like ribbon)
  • i wish, for pretty hair accessories
  • i wish, for fabric scraps to use in paper piecing (any pattern any color. 100% cotton. and at least2x2 inches :0)
  • i wish, for pictures of my friends! 4x6 of just you or a family pic. nothin fancy.

Oh, excellent wish list!!!

Linus donates to kids camps, in fact it's a big part of what we do every year. There is one for kids with cancer, a bereavement camp for kids that have lost a sibling or parent and several other small camps. I love making camp blankets because I know it's such a special time for those kids and it's something tangible that will help them remember their camp experience!

Fabric for paper piecing, I can't imagine why you'd want that, lol!

oh that is fantastic! i had no idea. i guess i havent studied the LC website closely enough. but for me its just another reason to love linus.

hahaha. i feel like i have to go BUY fabric eveytime i want to paperpiece and it would be nice to have a little collection of scraps like you do, at my disposal. :0) i am going to have a little plastic drawer system i think in my new sewing room for keeping scraps (which i have never done before). you orginise yours by the size of the scrap right? ill go look through your lj for the post where you talked about how you store right now :0)

I organize all my paper piecing fabric by color. Anything bigger than a few inches goes with it's fellow colors and tiny pieces (just a couple of inches) go in a giant bin that I root around in whenever I can't find what I need in the drawers.

Linus finally finally has a blog, so we'll be sharing more about what we actually do and not just how we do it. I'm sure there'll be info about camps the closer we get to next summer!

Okay you are mean. I totally cried watching that video. There's a Celiac Camp for kids that I support and it sounds so similar.... kids just wanting to be normal. Why is the world so cruel?
